Are you visiting Arroyo Grande and looking for a restaurant to enjoy? Or, do you live here and want to learn more about what local cuisine is available? Here’s our curated list of eight restaurants in town that we love, and that we think you will, too.

Alphy’s Broiler

This local Arroyo Grande restaurant is all about American diner cuisine done right. Alphy's Broiler has salads, breakfast, burgers, sandwiches, specialties, a kids' meal menu, and brewed coffee and espresso drinks.

Dishes include The Ranchero salad which includes tri-tip or chicken, black beans, and more, a hearty scrambled-egg platter called Harvey’s Skillet, a breakfast wrap and a breakfast sandwich, smoked turkey sandwiches, a BLT, quesadillas, grilled chicken, and much more. The prices are low and will surprise you, being more comparable to fast food than to diner prices.

CJ's Cafe

CJ's Cafe serves the things you’d expect from a cafe: coffee and espresso drinks and baked goods. However, it also serves delicious meals, which include a chile verde burrito, burgers, salmon, salads, a steak sandwich, pork chops and eggs, and a lot more. This is a great place to stop if you go to work early, as their hours are Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to noon and Sundays from 7:00 a.m. to noon.

Ember

For a warm atmosphere and a wide selection of wood-fired food, you can’t beat Ember. This restaurant has a rustic feel and, besides fantastic meals, they serve beer on tap and wine. They make California cuisine with an Italian twist. They use locally sourced and farm-fresh ingredients. The menu includes a variety of salads like Kale Ceasar Salad and Endive & Grilled Persimmon Salad, pizzas like Pepperoni & Fire-Roasted Peppers or Delicata Squash & Gruyere, entrees like Oven-Roasted Stuffed Quail and Mr. Lassen Steelhead, and desserts like Dark Chocolate & Hazelnut Cream Puffs and Citrus Creme Brulee. Top off the evening with a cocktail, wine, or draft beer.

F.McLintocks Saloon & Dining House

F.McLintocks Saloon & Dining House has several locations, and of course today we’re looking at their restaurant in Arroyo Grande. As the name suggests, the establishment has a Wild West feel. They have a breakfast menu and a lunch and dinner menu. On the former, you’ll find steaks, huevos rancheros, breakfast burritos, the Wild West Skillet, and omelets like the Denver Omelet and the California Chili Cheese Omelet. Lunch and dinner also have steaks, plus a bevy of burgers, salads, and sides. Like seafood? Then try the Baha Fish Tacos, calamari, or salmon.

Jaffa Cafe

For a taste of Mediterranean cuisine in Arroyo Grande, stop at Jaffa Cafe. They boast healthy food with the freshest ingredients at affordable prices. Dine on shawarma pita wraps, kabobs, gyros, and hummus, and finish your meal with a dessert of baklava.

Klondike Pizza

Klondike Pizza has been serving Arroyo Grande since 1988. The restaurant has a comfortable and cozy atmosphere with photos and art covering the walls. Basically, it feels like the sort of pizza place we all enjoy. In addition to a variety of pizzas, they serve salads, sandwiches (both grilled and cold), and burgers. The pizzas have funny names, too, like Roadkill, Klondike, and Hot Stuff. Order your pizza with garlic bread or garlic cheese bread with a side of red sauce or jalapenos.

Old Village Grill

Looking for another delicious grill? Old Village Grill lives up to its name. They serve burgers, wraps, and sandwiches, salads, a variety of tasty sides including several types of fries, hot dogs, shakes and malts, soda, and beer and wine.

This restaurant features a friendly atmosphere, great service, and is open from 11:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily.

Rooster Creek Tavern

Are you kidding us with this name? Seriously, Rooster Creek Tavern has a glorious name and delicious food. Just check out the meal photos on their website. Start with an appetizer like Rooster Nachos or Steak Bites, then fill up on one of their many salads and some pizza. Or, order a burger, turkey or tuna sandwich, a chicken pot pie, or a plate of macaroni and cheese. Picky kids can choose from some of the tasty adult-type food with smaller portions. For sides, get natural cut or truffle fries, soup of the day, veg of the day, or steamed rice. They’re open from 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily.
